West MacDonnell Ranges

Yesterday we arrived at Ellery Creek campground.  We did a walk after we set up around the area and saw lots of Rainbow Bee-Eaters and Zebra Finches.   We then did a short walk down to the Ellery Creek Water Hole and spent the afternoon sitting around the super cold waters edge reading and talking to our neighbours Cheree and Chris.

Today we drove out to Serpentine Gorge to do a walk to the lookout and pond.  The view from the lookout was spectacular and we sat there for a while.  Down at the pond it was a bit cool because it was in the shade.  Then we went to an Aboriginal site called the Ochre Pits.  It is where the Aboriginals go to get a special kind of paint powder called Ochre.  We then drove back of the caravan but stopped on the way to collect some firewood to have a fire tonight.
