Lighthouses and shipwrecks

Today we drove out to Vlaming Head Lighthouse.  We drove up the steep hill and pulled into the carpark and looked out at the magnificent view.  It was almost a 360 degree view of beautiful calm ocean, it seemed like a great spot for spotting whales.  After we called my little cousin April, we drove down to a beach where we can view the Mildura Wreck.  The SS Mildura was a cattle ship from Mildura which had crashed into the reef in 1907 only 40 metres from shore in the middle of the night.  No human lives were lost however over 450 bullocks had drowned trying to swim to shore, a few of the cattle made it.  We could see the wreck clearly though it was falling apart, the waves crashed over it and we could see 2 giant barrels on the plank of the ship.   Then we stopped at a few beaches and we saw a bright orange thing in the water and it turned out to be a T-Shirticus (A.K.A The Terrible T-Shirt).  Then at a place called Lakeside we got out our snorkel gear and had a snorkel.  The water was cold and a bit murky but mum and I saw some incredible things.  The first thing we saw was some Cat Fish that I had never seen before, then we spotted a ray which was pretty and quite close to us.  Then the most amazing thing we saw while snorkelling was a… Turtle! It was very beautiful but as soon as we got close it zoomed off.   After a bit of relaxing on the sand mum and I had another snorkel and on the way back I spotted a Flatfish with its eyes on one side.  We dried off and then drove back to the caravan and went up to the hill again with the other campers.
