Kakadu

Today we got up reasonably early so we could get to Kakadu early enough that we could explore after setting up.  One of the main things I was hoping I would see in Kakadu was a wild Buffalo.  We did actually see a few as we were driving in but unfortunately they weren't wild.  On the way we also stopped at a nice lookout on the the wetlands and could see heaps and heaps of different birds.

We set up in the campsite called Merl in Ubirr.  After we set up we went down to the river crossing at high tide because they said if you went down there at this time you could see the big Saltwater crocs snatching up their fish, Mullet.  Once we got there, the action was just beginning.  We ended up seeing fish jump out of the water and fish in the crocodiles mouths.  The crocodiles didn't chew the fish they just wiggled their mouth around till the fish got long ways and could slide down their throats and got ready for their next fish.  We stayed there for a long time watching the fish attempt to get over the river crossing and the crocodiles slide over the crossing.

Then we went to another spot to do a walk.  We walked around magnificent tall rocks, through caves, under bridges and along the river.  We also saw some beautiful rock art as well.  Then we went back to the caravan to enjoy the afternoon.  The last thing we did today was going to have a look at a spectacular sunset over the bright green wetlands.  It was one of the best sunsets I had ever seen.  The smoke from fires stretched across the horizon creating a wonderful Orange/Pink haze in front of the sun.
