Last day in Litchfield

It was our last day in Litchfield National Park as we are going to arrive in the city of Darwin tomorrow.   Our first stop for the day was at Buley Rockhole where we had a nice refreshing morning swim.

After that we went to look at a special display of 2 types of termite mounds - Magnetic termite mounds and Cathedral termite mounds.  We listened to a ranger tell us about the time it takes to build a termite mound and the termites jobs.  The jobs that termites have are - the Queen, the Workers and the soldiers, the same as the bees.  We learnt what the Aboriginals use the termite mounds for in their medicines and how to tell wether the termite mound had termites in it (active) or not.  We stood at the bottom of some cathedral termite mounds that were 5 and a half metres tall, so that means it would of taken over 50 years to build.

We then went to Florence Falls were we had another swim.  We stayed there for a while swimming around and playing with Lucy and Charlie, 2 of the kids we have met.  Then after that, we moved on back to the caravan were we spent the rest of the day swimming an relaxing.
