Katherine

Yesterday we arrived in Katherine.  We first went and did some shopping and came back and spent the rest of the day patting the 2 beautiful horses at the farm we were staying at.  The only other thing we did was go and listen to some live music on the farm.

Today we got up early because we wanted to go Katherine Hot Springs.  We arrived there and hopped in the lovely warm water.  We swam up past the main springs along the twisting narrow stream.  Around a few bends we found a little waterfall/rapid, which was pretty, and then we let the current float us back down the stream into the springs and under a bridge to the next waterfall.  This waterfall was slightly larger than the other and we were at the top of it.  We sat at the top with our feet hanging over the edge and then Kade and I slid off the edge into the deep spa like waters of the next pool.

After we spent an hour and a half floating in the hot springs, we came out and drove to Nitmiluk National Park/Katherine Gorge.  We went and did a walk to a lookout, it over-looked a beautiful river and stretching land.  After that we stopped at a beautiful Aboriginal Art Gallery, which had stunning art work and Didgeridoos on display.  It also had a wallaby that came and greeted us when hopped out of the car and I found a joey wallaby sleeping in a baby jumpsuit hanging in the corner of the gallery.  Then we had lunch and did some more shopping and then went back to the caravan for the afternoon.

  1. The hot springs were very warm when Nanny & I went. You could just sit like it was the bath. P.P.
