Sandy Creek Falls

We spent the whole day in Litchfield National Park.  We first drove on a 4WD track to the Blyth Homestead Ruins.  It was interesting to learn what life was like out here in the middle of nowhere in the years when you didn't have cars to drive to the shops.

Then we went to Sandy Creek Falls which is a beautiful towering waterfall which ended in a nice wide pool.  We were hoping there were going to be some nice tall ledges to jump off and when we got there we were very happy.  We jumped into the cold water straight away and swam over to the jumping ledges next to the beautiful waterfall.  We did lots of jumps from the 5 different levels, I jumped of the 4th level twice and 1st level twice and the 3rd level 6 or 7 times.  As we were swimming in the water, we noticed the biggest spider I’d ever seen.  It was a Golden Orb Weaver.  Its legs were super-duper long and his colours was black with orange spots on his leg joints.

After we spent some time there, we drove out to another waterfall called The Cascades.  It was very pretty but we didn't stay there for a long time because we needed to start cooking dinner.  We swam over to the waterfall and sat on the ledge beneath it and found that the water from the waterfall was warm.
