Cape Leveque

Today we left Broome and drove up the long sandy road of Cape Leveque. We had to drive very slowly because it was very bumpy and some parts were soft, as the sand was deep.  The very start of the road and near the end was sealed and the first bit of the red dirt road was ok because we were following the grader.  We settled ourselves at Banana Well Getaway and were welcomed by Chickens, Peacocks, Guinea Fowl and our friends Rob and Noi.

After we were set up we went for a drive (on sealed road Yay!) and on the way we saw a wild Donkey!  He was watching us drive past from the side of the road.  We stopped in a small Aboriginal Village called Beagle Bay and stopped at a bright white Church.  The inside was beautiful and everything including the walls and floors had parts or whole Pearl Shells.  Then we stopped at a place called Middle Lagoon.  It was a beautiful spot and the water was nice and almost warm so we went in for a swim.  On the way back to the caravan we saw out in the clearing a whole herd of wild Donkeys!  It was beautiful seeing them out there in their large group, there was at least 20 of them.  In bed that night I could here the wild donkeys out there in the bush while I longed for tomorrow to come.  We were going on an Aboriginal Tour tomorrow and we were going to hear ancient stories, try some bush tucker and have a go at spear fishing and finding Mud Crabs!
