Kooljaman Tour

Today I woke up early, all excited and then I realised it was raining.  I hoped that the tour wouldn't be cancelled.  We got ready and then left to drive all the way to Kooljaman, the place where the tour starts.

We arrived there and not too long after we were ready to leave.  Brian was the name of the man conducting the tour and he told us we weren’t going to go Mud Crabbing or do Spear Fishing today, so that was a bit disappointing.  We hopped into our car and followed Brian in his car down on to the beach with 6 other cars.  Once we got onto the beach we all hopped out of our cars and Brian told us a story about the punishment you get if you run away from your promised partner.  He showed us two very sharp pointed and detailed spears which if you don't marry your promised one, someone will spear it into your leg.  The spear had so many sharp pointed triangles running completely along both sides of the spears, that if you got speared by one it meant you would eventually die from your wounds.  He told us a lot of interesting things about his Aboriginal tribe (the Bardi tribe) and about other tribes too.

Then we drove some more over the soft dunes and we were showed some more pretty spots and learned a few more things.  We also tried some Bush Tucker.  We found a small bird and ripped its head off and drank the juice from its neck.  It wasn't a real bird of course, it was a flower that looked like a bird.  The taste of the juice was a little sweet and then bitter, I thought it tasted ok.  He also told us a dream time story about the flower bird.  Then we drove back along the bumpy soft track back to where we started.  Then after it finished we drove back to the caravan to watch Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
