A big day in Perth

Wow, what a tiring day, in this blog entry I will list 5 types of transport I have used today. First we drove to the bus stop where we caught a bus called Blue Cat to the train station. I enjoyed the train ride because the trains were different, they had seats along the sides instead of rows and they were clean and had no vandalism.  We drove over the river and 30 minutes later arrived in the city of Perth.

Then we caught another bus to the Perth Mint, a mint is where they make money and gold. We signed up to a guided tour and first a man told us about the history of the building and how it opened. We first walked inside and watched a little clip about gold and how one of the largest nuggets found was from a 11 yr old boy tripping over it, also in that room the largest coin in the world was displayed. It was named the Kangaroo coin, it was made out of 1 tonne of pure gold. There was a scale that showed how much your weight is worth in gold and I am worth $ 1,795,543.  After that we walked around the display of nuggets and gold dust until they called us in to the melting room. The melting room was the room where they made the gold bars and surprisingly a man walked in and showed us how he made a gold block out of liquid gold. He first had the furnace at the heat of over 1000 degrees which is so the gold can be poured in to a rectangle mould, then he put it in a bucket of room temperature water to cool it down in approximately 60 seconds, then he showed us the glittering colour of the golden block worth about $300,000.

After we had lunch we went to look at the Bell Tower which is Australia's largest instrument even though its a tower. You can go inside and ring the bell but we didn't, we just stood at the bottom and stared up at the top and it looked like it was falling because of the clouds moving fast. From the Bell Tower we caught a ferry across Swan River to the sunny South Perth, we walked across to the old mill and took a look inside and could see how in the olden days they ground wheat and corn, but we couldn't stay long because the ferry was about to leave so we sprinted all the way back and caught it just in time, but the 7 minute trip went fast as I messaged my friend Emma on the way. Then we back tracked what I had done before, I caught a bus to the train station then another bus to the car than drove back home were I had a Skype session with Lily.
